Dojo Etiquette

All students must bow when entering or exiting the dojo.

No food is permitted in the dojo. Drinks of water may be left on the table near to the entry of the dojo. (The sensai will provide regular gaps when water can be accessed.) Finger & toe nails must be kept short & clean.

The time before the class starts should be spent practicing; this is a time to ask higher grades for advice.

For your safety we ask that you remove all jewellery and watches.

As a karateka (karate student) we expect you to show respect to fellow karateka. You should demonstrate this respect by bowing when partnering with others, bowing when finishing any joint work and by staying quiet and paying attention when others are performing kata.

As a karateka you are representing yourself and the club at all times. We therefore expect positive behaviour, you should not use your karate skills to harm or endanger anybody.

Always ask permission to leave the dojo.

Junior members who are collected please remain in the dojo until your parent or carer has arrived for you.

All graded students are expected to wear a clean white gi (karate uniform) beginners should wear loose clothing. We recommend tracksuit bottoms and a white t-shirt.
